In order to broadcast from the web browser, you need broadcasting software (like OBS Studio). If you already know how to broadcast, and are just looking for encoder settings, click here

To start broadcasting from your web browser

  1. On the Halogen website, sign in and click the Create button to view the create menu.
  2. Select Go Live from the create menu.
  3. Enter your broadcast information:
    • Description (required) - Describe your video, using up to 100 characters.
    • Location (optional) - Share where you are broadcasting from.
    • Cost (optional) - To charge for the video, enter a price.
    • Promoter Share (optional) - If you're charging for the video, you can give a percentage of its price to users who promote you. Enter that percentage as the promoter share.
    • Cover Photo (optional) - Upload an image that will introduce and highlight your broadcast!
  4. Click Start Broadcasting
The web page will show you the Server URL and Stream Key. Switch over to your broadcasting software (instructions for OBS are here), enter the Server URL and Stream Key, and start broadcasting. Then switch back to Halogen.

Halogen will detect the broadcast. Once it does, you'll be live streaming on Halogen.

While live streaming

While you are live streaming, you can see all the activity happening on your stream. You can see every time someone joins, tips, gifts, reacts or chats. When they do, give them a shout-out. Let them know you know they're there!
